Enter our tohu (logo) competition and be in to win a $250 Prezzy card

Your brief

Design a tohu (logo) for Ngā Rangatira mō Āpōpō! This will become a visual representation of the event and will be used on all communications including our website and social media platforms, and supporting resources like clothing.

  • The tohu should reflect the Ngā Rangatira mō Āpōpō kaupapa: to empower Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua rangatahi as future leaders.
  • The tohu will need to work in both colour and black and white, in both portrait and landscape format.
  • When submitted electronically, your designs should be in either JPEG or PNG formats, and be at least 600 pixels wide and tall.
  • Supply a brief supporting kōrero on your design – tell us about the meaning.

Prizes

  • The winner will receive a $250 Prezzy card, and the opportunity to work with a professional designer to finalise your design, which will then be used to represent Ngā Rangatira mō Āpōpō.
  • The shortlisted finalists (other than the winner) will each receive a $50 Prezzy card.

Competition details

  • The competition runs from 23 June 2025 and closes on 25 July 2025, 12pm.
  • Entrants must be registered members of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua Settlement Trust.
  • Your design should be at a stage that is a well-developed concept but it does not need to be in a format ready for use. We will provide a graphic designer to work with the winner to finalise the logo to a professional level, if required.
  • Your design needs to be shown in two ways: One showing your design in colour, and one that shows the design in black and white. We need to see that the logo works in both landscape and portrait format so please make sure that in submitting your two versions, one is in landscape and one is in portrait format. Kei te pai if you wish to show more than two versions of your idea.
  • Each version of your design should be in A5 format and can be submitted on the same page, or on separate pages.
  • We prefer to receive your design electronically, but will accept hard copy too.
  • Entries need to be submitted to the Ngā Rangatira mō Āpōpō team by email to: rangatahi@kkwtnr.org.nz
  • Hard copies can be delivered to: Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki-nui-a-Rua Settlement Trust, Level 4, Departmental Building, 35-37 Chapel Street, Masterton or posted to: PO Box 756, Masterton 5840

Judging

  • Our Ngā Rangatira mō Āpōpō Rangatahi Komiti will shortlist up to three (3) designs for final judging. Our Settlement Trust Chairman, Kaihautū (CE) and Tikanga Advisor will collaboratively determine the winning design from the shortlisted entries.
  • The finalists will be announced on 30 July, and the winner will be announced on 4 August.
  • We reserve the right to not award a final winner if there are insufficient entries.
